Puerto Montt is a place, where hundreds of german settlers started to cultivate the land around of the Osorno in 1852.
Nowadays you still find many german traces in Puerto Montt...

Gott sei dank muss ich auch in Puerto Montt nicht auf ein anständiges Bierchen verzichten ;)

What a fun cruise you had! Those snow-capped mts. behind Puerto Montt are beautiful, not to mention your fjord cruise scenes! It must have been worrying for those early German settlers to make such a move - I thought the same about Papua New Guinea!!

Michael, fabulous page about this Chilean palce with so much German history. I really like the old steam trains. Also I would like to give the Kunstmann beer a try; "Das gute Bier" :-)
