About Rovaniemi and Lapland: | The lumberjack candle- bridge |
As you can see I live in Finland -> Rovaniemi.. Rovaniemi (the capital of Lapland), sometimes called "The second capital of Finland", is a quite small town. We have only 35 000 people living in here plus 20 000 people living near Rovaniemi in Rovaniemi "county" (where I live, about 5km from Rovaniemi centre). The time zone is GMT +2:00 in the whole country. Currency unit is euro. Rovaniemi is located at the confluence of Lapland's mighty rivers Kemijoki and Ounasjoki. Rovaniemi is a service centre of education, commerce and administration. Perhaps you know something about Rovaniemi.. maybe The Lumberjack Candle, Father Christmas or Alvar Aalto. I think Rovaniemi is a very beautiful town. Lapland Lapland is truly the most attractive province of Finland for tourism. The region is quite unique in the distinct variation of seasons. In Lapland you can experience the richness of colours in autumn, certainty of snow in winter, brightness of crusted snow in springtime and the twenty-four hours of sunlight in summer. The actors in the province's tourism and experience industry, together with the local inhabitants, have created interesting and high-quality products and events for all seasons. The foundation of these products lies in the nature, culture and the people of Lapland. Lapland is an excellent province for leisure activities, You can find a sea enviroment in the Qulf of Bothania and the valleys of great rivers as well as forrested fell areas also provide wonderful settings for leisure activities. Canoeing, river rafting, mountain biking and hiking are the kind of sports, which are easy to carry out in Lapland. Globally there is an enormous increase and intrest in nature and environmental tourism. Lapland is beautiful and unique in its vast unspoiled areas, which are of interest to responsible environmental visitors, who can experience a wonderful natural landscape together with a range of different activities. During the long summer days and nights you will have the opportunity to live well, rest, relax and gather your strenght again to be able to return refreshed and full of life to meet the challanges of today's workplace. Lapland truly offers you the opportunity to experience the joy of life! An EXCELLENT page!!More info about Rovaniemi: http://www.rovaniemi.fi/ also in English! |

(And you were saying that -20'C is cold ;-)) I can say that when it is less than -30C it is cold ;-) -Highest ever-recorder temperature was +30.6'C (WOHOO!) -the Midnight Sun may be seen from 6 June to 7 July. |
| | When should you come in Finland?! In the middle of January is good time if you want to be here in winter (very cold and dark;-) ). I recomment spring... maybe May or April :) but if you want to see northern lights, mosquitos or colorful trees that is not the right time;) About snow I have to say that we have it usually from October/November to May :) (That means we don't usually have snow in June, July, August or September...)
PS. Tip for you all! If you like to see sun by night, come here in summer! If you hate sun and can't stand it, come here in winter, then you can't see it at all! ;)
Remember to tell me, what do you want me to tell you about...e-mail is a good way to do it!
I love e-mails ;-) (anishe@loveable.com) |
