Golden temple of Kyoto!

A lake surround it and its beauty is different in every season?Ets background changes from green to red to snow white in Winter. It was Summer then, and in Japan it rains in Summer ?Euddenly it would start raining?Eleaving green aroma in the atmosphere?EIt was all misty and cloudy?EThere we got bicycles on rent after depositing our passports. We were cycling in that mist and clouds all over the village near Kyoto! The mountains were all green and hidden amongst the cloud patches!

Gion Temple

Kyoto is city of festivals..... Gion Matsuri which is Gion Festival is celebrated in Kyoto with much enthusiasm and vigour!!! A huge wooden chariot is structured, the heihgt of which is around 16~17 feet, on which the Gion Chariot is placed. This wooden structure is pulled by many Japanese men.

This festival is celebrated during Obon!!! Obon is a period during which the Japanese worship their ancestors. To invite the ancestors to their homes, huge fire is setup on the mountains near Kyoto. It is called as Daimonji

Tenryuuji Temple

Some 650 years ago Tenryuji was not a temple, but Emperor Kameyama's villa.
Tenryuji temple has a large garden named Sogenchi, which has a beautiful hill on its background. This garden has been kept the same as when it was first built.

The garden is designed to evoke the image of landscape painitng of Mt. Horai in China. In the centre of the garden lies a large pond shaped like the Kanji for Kokoro which means heart.

In 1995, this garden was recognized by theUnited Nations as a World Cultural Heritage Site.
