It's really more like a marvelous film set than a real live city, with its criss crossing canals, gondolas and water buses, arched bridges, palaces or a little quiet piazza. Start with a boat ride then a visit to St Mark's Basilia and a chance to watch Venetian glass blowers fashion their delicate objects as they did centuries ago. I don't care how played out this place get visited, I still feel an awe and romance every time I visit Venice.
