Port Antonio is a small town on the eastern coast of Jamaica and is the capital city of Portland Parish. The town was well known in 19th century for the bananas trade (do you remember the song 'Banana boat' by Harry Belafonte?). In 20th century became a holiday resort where many famous and rich people spended their holiday. The actor Errol Flynn was enchanted by the place and set up house here in the 50'. Then for Port Antonio a period of decline begans and today is a quiet town not yet touched by the tourist development. The most important places to visit near Port Antonio are Frenchman's Cove and the Blue Lagoon. |
