Joshua Tree N.P. was the first national park we visited in the United States. Later, after having seen the whole lot of beautiful West USA landscapes and parks, we still recalled Joshua Tree to be one of the prettiest but also weirdest places we've been to. Most people who make a roundtrip along the parks in South West USA skip Joshua Tree on their way to Arizona. Every time we are in the area however, we make sure to spend some time here, just to experience the magic of the park.

PLANNING YOUR VISIT
- If you only have half a day: start checking out the visitors' centre. You may explore the park driving the main park roads and additionally do 1 or 2 short nature trails (see our tip on "Cholla Cactus Garden")
- If you stay af full day:
you may want to plan several nature trails (there are 12 of them ranging from 0,4 to 2,1 km) or even go on a ranger-led walk. Alternatively, you may want to explore the park on an ATB bycicle.
- If you have more than 1 day you can plan some seriously hiking. Backcountry camping is permitted, so the possibilities are innumereable. Do prepare your trip thoroughly and plan very well on carrying and refilling sufficient water supplies.

What an incredible place. I have yet to see the desert and this place sure entices me... fabulous photos. Up close and personal with some extraordinary examples of nature.
