Grand Canyon

by Alice-Kees - last update: Jun 25, 2003

Entrance of Grand Canyon National Park, Arizona
Grand Canyon is one of those places in the world you've seen millions pictures of and dozens of documentaries, but as soon as you get to see the real thing, the magic of the place hits you.

The day we were here, we only did the usual thing which was driving with our rented car from one view point to the other. I was also under illusion about us being the only tourists at this place, so I got pretty annoyed by the crowds taking each other pictures right at a spot where I had been sitting and admiring the views.

Of course, this doesn't make sense and so I promised myself to come back later to set out for a long walk right to the bottom of the canyon, spend the night there and then move on to the North Rim. This trip has still to be made, so it is added to my travel wish list.

Not many tips here; for those who are interested in pictures, please go to our travelogue on Grand Canyon!

Pros:"Scenery, scenery and scenery."
Cons:"The crowds that inundate the place (including myself of course...)"
