The former capital of Malta | St. Paul's Cathedral, Mdina |
Mdina is a little gem, perched on a hill top overlooking the larger part of the island of Malta. For many centuries this was the capital of Malta, but is now rather known as "The Silent City". That is, if this silence is not disturbed by some car or a guided tour.
The town is very small: walking from one end to another won't take you 5 minutes.
Once it gets dark in the evening, the town gets a mystical atmosphere.
I don't have many practical tips for this town; still, it's one of the most important sights on the island of Malta. But you may want to check out our travelogues to get an idea about how the "Silent City" looks like... by day and one by night. |
