Our first destination stepping out of the plane was Jaco. We wanted to take some time to let the warmness of Costa Rica soaks in. Animated streets, beautiful beach, raging waves, great little hotel... we got what we came for!
Jaco is the beach closest to San Jose and could be a bit crowded for some taste. The bus ride (3 hours of shaking and boucing in the hot and humid bus) was crowded. The main street, during the day and at night is crowded. The beach is crowded. But it's crowded with respectuous, fun, welcoming people... so it doesn't become a problem at all. We loved this place and would come back in a heart beat!
And we did, a year later. We were here for 4 days in 2005 and this time, we got the opportunity to explore the area a little bit more: Tarcoles river, Carara National Park, ... And Jaco Beach remains one of our favorite, for the waves on the beach, for the fun atmosphere in town, for the incredible fauna you can encounter! |
