Longest Place Name in the World |
Christchurch is where I entered New Zealand for the first time. I had several days here before departing for Antarctica. When I returned from the 'Ice', I stayed here for two more days before heading North.
Lyttleton is a quant harbor town only 12km from Christchurch. It is historically Christchurch's shipping port.
Once I returned from Antarctica, I head north from Christchurch and my first stop was
Kaikoura for a night. It's a great place for whale watching, and for feeding seagulls and seals.
From Picton, I took the ferry from the South Island to the North Island and ended up exploring
Wellington for two days. Here I got my 'capitol photo.'
I rented a car in Wellington and took a quick drive up the East coast to Art Deco themed
Napier This town was flattened by an earthquake in the 1930's, and was rebuilt in the 'current' architectural style.
An overnight stay in
Taupo allowed me to finally Bungy Jump and relax on the lake.
