Garveys is the name of a 'European Family Club.' They've got a pool, gym, squash courts and a pool room. But what's the real draw here?? Well, the PUB of course! They have a liquour permit here, and you may drink here if you are a member. It's an expatriot bar, but other 'foreigners' can join for the day for 20QR. They have Guinness on tap, and plenty of Belgian Weissenbier. They also have a nice pub menu. I tried a grilled steak with mushroom sauce and chips.

my 2nd day in Doha - definitely similar to abu dhabi. i read about camels that you met off the road, compared that with luxury of hotels and liked the pyramid shaped sheraton. i agree doha is safe for foreigners. my journey continues :-) | uglyscot Mon Nov 27, 2006 19:09 UTC
