Another beautiful little secret in Rhode Island

When I think of Tiverton, I think of the beautiful drive to get there. There are many vistas along the way where you might want to pull off the road and just absorb the scenery. Choose a day when you have the opportunity to be lazy and take your time.......
We passed this little house on the water (almost literally) and altho it is lacking paint, I thought what a marvelous place to be...just staring out at the gulls and the sun glistening on the water.

Just found another sweet spot!

We followed an ad in the paper to a great indoor Farmers Market held every Thursday eve 4 - 7 pm throughout the winter.
Wow! Delicious stuff! Interesting vendors. Excellent people to follow up with during the summer months. Farmers came from Westport; Fall River, Mass.;Little Compton, Portsmouth.... and we'll visit every one of them this summer! Check my tips for info about each one including...
Beresford of Tiverton: A pasture-based livestock business
New England Clam Jams: the BEST chowder!.
Urban Acres: Hydroponic veggies from Fall River

Four Corners

There is only one intersection here in little Tiverton. They call it Four Corners. Several shops of interest...the historical society and the road to the beach. The Provender is popular for a gourmet take-out lunch.

Pros and Cons
  • Pros:Pastoral, Nautical, Historical, Peaceful
  • Cons:No flash, no glitter, no noise...in case you are looking for bright lights...NO

As much as I enjoy antique shows, I'm sure I'd like Tiverton's! Enjoyed reading about the cute little shops, ice cream places and country scenes...cows, included!

What a great place for a shopping spree! Gray's icecream sounds so yummy, just like the homemade icecream we had at Hellesylt, Norway.

Hmm, looks like my kind of place too, Janet. But maybe a red wine instead of a vodka and tonic.

This is so "your kind of place", Janet. What a lovely July 4 visit. Enjoyed the restaurant tips...smiled at the first shopping tip. Scenic, quaint, and fun. Thanks for the tour.
