Block Island....great getaway! - Block Island

Block Island is a small island with very few year round residents..but the population explodes in summer months. The beaches are beautiful, town is small, plenty of clubs, bars, restaurants and shops to keep you busy when not on the beach. Most people make it a day trip, but if you stay on the island...be sure to book your hotel ahead of time.

You can bring your car or your bike on the ferry. Expensive to bring a car. It makes sense to bring a bike, however. Block Island isn't as developed as Martha's Vineyard or Nantucket (which are part of Massachusetts....Block Island is part of Rhode Island). If you want party time around town.... or quiet time with nature away from town... you can find it all here.

Notice that there is an airport for faster service to the island. BTW...plenty of challenging hills if you are on a bike.

Pros and Cons

Pros:Small island, lots of beaches, clubbing, and quiet patches
Cons:Sometimes feels too small.....
In a nutshell:Come for quiet relaxation, or to focus on the "happening" clubs

It seems you had a great family trip to this pleasant hideaway. It's hard to beat sunshine and sand! The new photos certainly add sparkle, it looks a great place to visit.
