Timeless, vital, funky, sunny, bountifull

Provincetown finds its roots as an artists' colony, which has continued into recent years. The artists' styles have changed somewhat from the guy in a big hat sitting on the side of the road painting streetscapes or seascapes ... to the very sophisticated who display their work in charming galleries along Commercial Street.
Many people come to Provincetown because of the beaches, dunes, seafood, shops, galleries or ... because of the comfort of being "out of the closet". It all comes together in an ecclectic way, making this a fun destination for just about everybody.

tail end of the Cape

Commercial Street is as it sounds. Shops are interesting, fun, funky, and often fascinating.
Everybody has to walk up and down to see what, who, how, and why....

My leanings are always the same...

Gardens and architecture always seem to occupy my thoughts...and you'll find plenty to satisfy you if that's your pleasure.

Pros and Cons
  • Pros:Gorgeous, salty, funky, fun, entertaining
  • Cons:Parking is a bear. Pay the tab...prepare to walk

Lovely page on a lovely place, well, perhaps a little too touristy for me, but I always enjoy exploring places with so much water around. And the beautiful gardens are an added bonus.

Janet, this is marvelous stuff. The seaside architect is just terrific. Of course, I loved the flowers, too. But, I really enjoyed all of it. It sure brought back fond memories of when I visited. Thanks ever so much.

I love the "driving out into the ocean" idea and the flowering cottages. Nice little place.

Certainly a picture postcard place, yes... I wonder who does do all the gardens? They must be very proud of their hometown. Thanks for a lovely page Janet x

A very pleasant looking place indeed - it looks like the place to spend some relaxing days: and walking definitely seems to be the answer!

Great photos, Janet. I love the main one on the page. I'll have to go to the art museum next time. That Forever Plaid show looks good, too!
