Timeless, vital, funky, sunny, bountifull Provincetown finds its roots as an artists' colony, which has continued into recent years. The artists' styles have changed somewhat from the guy in a big hat sitting on the side of the road painting streetscapes or seascapes ... to the very sophisticated who display their work in charming galleries along Commercial Street. Many people come to Provincetown because of the beaches, dunes, seafood, shops, galleries or ... because of the comfort of being "out of the closet". It all comes together in an ecclectic way, making this a fun destination for just about everybody. |
| | tail end of the Cape Commercial Street is as it sounds. Shops are interesting, fun, funky, and often fascinating. Everybody has to walk up and down to see what, who, how, and why.... |
My leanings are always the same... Gardens and architecture always seem to occupy my thoughts...and you'll find plenty to satisfy you if that's your pleasure. | | |

evaanna Wed Feb 18, 2009 10:08 UTC Lovely page on a lovely place, well, perhaps a little too touristy for me, but I always enjoy exploring places with so much water around. And the beautiful gardens are an added bonus. | tpal Sun Sep 7, 2008 16:34 UTC Hi Janet, Wonderfully done, as always. Carol and I will spend a couple of nights in a B&B in P-town week after next. Thanks for the terrific preview...Tom | deecat Wed Jan 16, 2008 20:06 UTC Janet, this is marvelous stuff. The seaside architect is just terrific. Of course, I loved the flowers, too. But, I really enjoyed all of it. It sure brought back fond memories of when I visited. Thanks ever so much. | cadzand Mon Aug 6, 2007 11:33 UTC I love the "driving out into the ocean" idea and the flowering cottages. Nice little place. |
