Exquisite Mt. Dora

by Pawtuxet - last update: May 2, 2007

destination.....luxury

Drove over to Mt. Dora one afternoon....you pass thru lots of lovely farm country and signs that say "Bear Crossing", but I didn't see any...thank goodness. It seemed as if I was going nowhere, when suddenly I was in Mt. Dora and all its luxurious ammenities. I was told I had to see it cause of it having a wonderful historic district...similar to Sanford. I found it to be more formal and pristine than Sanford. Gorgeous homes along the water...a lovely drive. The business district has lots of upscale shops and neat restaurants. Very "chi-chi" hotel overlooking the lake...generally beautiful all around.
Definately worthy of a day or weekend of investigation.

Pros:"Lovely, preserved, lush, bountifull"
Cons:"wishing for a bit of grit"
In A Nutshell:"I prefer slightly less gentrified...as in Sanford"

Welcome to my city Janet. I live 3mi from that very pic. Its only "gentrified" downtown..the rest of the area is quite rural. Glad you liked it.

I know Mount Dora well, Janet. You actually weren't that far from my neck of the woods. As for the restaurant, it looks great. Did they have grits? ;)
