Off The Beaten Path: Cerrillo's Bottle Shop
  • Tip Rating:
  • Don't know who Cerrillo was, but he sure had lots of bottles...and various other treasures. You could pick around in a place like this for hours. This was in another little town along the road between Albuquerque and Santa Fe.

Off The Beaten Path: Wagon wheels...old skulls..
  • Tip Rating:
  • These funny little shops are enchanting to me. The worn out items from times past give me a sense of the place and the people who have been here for years...what their lives consisted of.

  • Here is a good example of the old western towns you see along the way from Albuquerque to Santa Fe. Artists and pioneers have come back to restore the buildings and offer new business ventures...breathing life back into these little towns.

    Off The Beaten Path: Church
  • Tip Rating:
  • This simple church seemed abandoned in a little ghost town with very little going on. Obviously the largest structure in the town which didn't look as if it were ever wealthy enough to support this size church. It says something for the religious committment of the people who were here years ago.

We drove the length of NM one winter, then on into Colorado - beautiful! Great memories, Taos in the snow, driving towards Santa Fe at night, the buildings all lined with luminaries. I must get back some time. leyle

Albequerque and Santa Fe are a treat! You've captured the flavor well with your tips. A favorite part of the US for me!

Beautiful photos and lots of great memories on this page. I spent a year in New Mexico when I was in my early 20s. Visited every county in the state. My photos from then are in color slides - and a bit outdated. Maybe someday I'll get them scanned for VT.
