Albuquerque is a bustling little city now, but when you get away from the modern... you can travel the Turquoise Trail toward Santa Fe.... and see the true New Mexico. The light and the skies are awesome. You can try to capture that light in a photo, but it's just about as impossible as capturing the ocean or the autumn leaves. There is an essence that must be enjoyed first hand. |

| | Early photography of the southwest I've included a new tip which I hope you will review and enjoy. It's the first one under General Tips. I've shared some early 1900's photos with all you photography buffs. I think you will be impressed with the work of Updike and Pennington. |

TheWanderingCamel Thu Nov 20, 2008 16:12 UTC We drove the length of NM one winter, then on into Colorado - beautiful! Great memories, Taos in the snow, driving towards Santa Fe at night, the buildings all lined with luminaries. I must get back some time. leyle | glo39 Fri Jan 18, 2008 21:29 UTC I love that photograph of the junk car by the shack! | karenincalifornia Wed Feb 28, 2007 02:22 UTC Albequerque and Santa Fe are a treat! You've captured the flavor well with your tips. A favorite part of the US for me! | Stephen-KarenConn Fri Feb 16, 2007 13:06 UTC Beautiful photos and lots of great memories on this page. I spent a year in New Mexico when I was in my early 20s. Visited every county in the state. My photos from then are in color slides - and a bit outdated. Maybe someday I'll get them scanned for VT. |
