It's Autumn in New England now...

by Pawtuxet - last update: Nov 2, 2009

Day trips and gardens...

Cape Cod foliage ~ Mid Cape highway
Immersed in gardens all summer long... and now the weather is turning, leaves are falling and it's time to tuck away the last of the garden projects and tools.... to begin thinking of buttoning up for winter.

New England's seasons have always been what drew me back here after years of living around the country. Every new season has its joys, colors, smells, foods, clothes and skies. So many colors.... I never get bored with the excitement of four seasons....

Day trips and local things

NEW TIPS on my PAWTUXET page.... dancing at a vintage ballroom (nightlife).... stories of Stillhouse Cove (local customs)....

Recently we were at the BRISTOL HOUSE & GARDEN TOUR. It was a Corker! You really should check out the page... full of HERESCHOFF SAILING YACHTS and GREEK REVIVIAL MANSIONS... HAFFENREFFER MUSEUM ...

BEAUTIFUL BRISTOL

Recently I added some info on touring historic houses in

Off to
CONNECTICUT to Bowen's Roseland Cottage a perfect example of Gothic Revival architecture.

Summer Day trips... along the coast of Massachusetts to
WESTPORT POINT

PLEASE SEE THE NEW ALBUM AT THE BOTTOM OF THE PAGE SHOWING OFF THE NEW DRIVEWAY, WALKS AND GARDENS...FEATURING MISS AUSTRALIA !! THIS IS HOW I LOVE TO SPEND MY TIME...

Trans-continental story starts w/ VT !

The story begins with a lad from Ireland who found my pages about Rockport, Massachusetts on VIRTUAL TOURIST and wrote to me for help with his trip to the states in October. Seems he and his "Welsh lady" would be doing a bus tour to include Rockport and he had an idea for a creative proposal of marriage! I helped him with a few contacts which gave him permission to post a banner on Motif #1 (a popular red fishing shack everyone photographs). His banner would read.....
........................... WILL YOU MARRY ME?

TUNE IN TO MY ROCKPORT PAGE FOR THE REST OF THE STORY ~
Tomas' proposal....

The Boss in the Family

Here is my "Australia". She's my very special side kick...with a wonderful story to tell. Hope you will check my Travelogue to learn the story of a ~"Australia"~ the heroine of the story
UPDATE!!***!!
Aussie's story was published in a book entitled "Disposable Dogs" by Steve Swanbeck. She's a star!!:-)
UPDATE 2008
A call from the author of "Disposable Dogs" informed me he's done another printing of this book...which has been his best selling book to date! Must be because of my Aussie's story.... wink, wink

Our cottage

The cottage is a sweet little spot located at the rear of our property. Warm sunshine pours through the french glass doors at the back of the kitchen and floods the sunshine yellow rooms with light. It's very popular with business people who are in RI for a few months, people who are transferring to RI and need interim housing, as well as people who are from other states or countries and want to visit RI friends and family for a month or two in the summer or over holidays. Everyone seems to want to visit Newport while they are here.
Totally renovated a couple of years ago, we outfitted it completely with IKEA closets, lighting, and furniture. We do short term rental by the month.
In case you plan to travel this way, take a look at our little Cottage and if we have an opening, VT folks are always welcome.
More pics available on my Pawtuxet page...including a studio apartment (short term)
Aussie waiting to greet our guests at the cottage
