Getting TO/AROUND: There are 5 ways that I can suggest for getting around Las Vegas.
1. This is a bit more luxury style but a nice way to cruise the Strip at night. Hire a limo. When I worked as a tourguide, I'd often come through here with my tour groups for 2 nights. On the first night we would go to a buffet dinner at the Luxor and I would surprise the group with a 1 hour limo ride to the Freemont Experience in Downtown with a drop-off at the Mirage at the end. Being that they were mainly from Germany, riding in these huge limousines was dreamlike. They're eyes were just buggin' out as they sipped their champagne and gazed out at the glitter of lights. It was something they talked about for days afterwards. There are a ton of limo services in town - I can recommend Gene Seibak as your Chauffeur (the tallest guy in the pic). I went with him a couple of times. His cellular # probably wouldn't be the same anymore from '99 (702)278-2561, but his pager # is (702)590-1210.
2. Take a CAT bus. They have bus stops all along the Strip and also go to the Factory Outlet Stores, as well as other places off the Strip, which you most likely won't go to anyway. The cost per ride in '99 was about $1.50.
3. Several groups of hotels on the Strip now have a monorail system (free). One goes from the Excalibur to the Luxor and Mandalay Bay. Another is a 1 mile long monorail connecting the MGM Grand to Bally's by way of Aladdin. It's a long walk to reach the monorail from the Strip though, as it runs at the rear of these properties. Another light monorail system links the Monte Carlo with Bellagio.
4. If you have your own car be prepared for a lot of standstill traffic at certain times of the day. Parking at all the hotels is free unless its valet of course. Parking for non-valet is most definately a further walk to the casino!
5.Hire a Harley Davidson. I know this is available off the Strip somewhere, but I don't have the info anymore. Maybe a nice way to cruise out to the Hoover Dam?
