I'm mainly focusing on Chena Hot Springs for this page although I will add on a little for Fairbanks. There are a few worthwhile things to do in town, but for the most part, I just passed through. I wasn't really that impressed. It is however, an excellent place to get supplies. Chena Hotsprings is only about a 1 hour drive outside of Fairbanks. The drive there on Chena Hot Springs Road passes many ponds, sloughs, and marshy areas along the Chena River. This is very good habitat for moose and there's a large concentration of them here. While you drive along keep your eyes open. There are often moose feeding in the waterways. This moose was feeding along with a couple more, right at the beginning of the road. |
