| The War Memorial on top of Ben Nevis |
The town of Fort William is a beautiful picturesque spot, however alot of the visitors here come for the nearby hiking opportunites or for other outdoor activities. The most well known is the hike up and down Ben Nevis, the highest mountain in the UK. At 1343 metres it is by no means a giant peak, however it does have it's challenges. I was amazed to see people undertake the hike totally unprepared with no food or water! I passed one gentleman wearing leather soled shoes and a plastic Sainsbury's bag with a few things in it! No wonder people die here every year! It is not a difficult hike but just be prepared for all events. It should take between 5-8 hours. |
