| Historic Lincoln Cathedral-England |
I never knew Lincoln had such a rich history until I visited the place. It was one of the largest cities in Britian for many years. Soon after William the Conqueror took control of Britain, he built the magnificent Castle and Cathedral which stand today. The cathedral is the country’s third largest after St Paul’s and York Minster. Another Surprise is one of the four copies of the Magna Carta is housed in a museum within the castle walls. |

scaevolatn Tue Jul 25, 2006 03:35 UTC I came to Lincoln to see Magna Carta, thinking it the only original I had not seen. Not true: the Lincoln copy was loaned to the States in 1976 and I saw it there. Nevertheless, it was awesome to see the document 'at home' and in such a beautiful city. | iwys Mon May 15, 2006 13:07 UTC Yes, Lincoln is a real gem. It is my favourite English cathedral too. | KittyLou Wed Mar 9, 2005 20:53 UTC I appreciate your helpful information and great pictures. i will be visiting Lincoln this summer. | sue_stone Thu Dec 16, 2004 17:25 UTC Haven't made it out this way yet - will put it on the list. |
