Plymouth has a superb natural harbour which is why it has been a Naval Base for many centuries. It was the harbour where those founding fathers of the USA sailed from in the Mayflower and arrived at Plymouth Rock (named after this place). A walk along Plymouth´s Waterfront Walkway allows you to explore the history and magnificent setting of the maritime city. Beyond this you can continue along the rest of the South West Coast Path and take in the dramatic views of the sea, a picturesque harbour or river estuary. |
