| Tsminda Sameba and Mt Kazbek-Georgia |
Although just the other side is Chechnya, it is worth making the effort to come here for the amazing view. The hike up to the monastery- Tsminda Sameba is pretty much straight up! It is a magical place. Mount Kazbek is over 5000m high. The trip here and back from Tbilisi is also worth it. |

| | We stayed in a homestay with an elderley women. She spoke German as well as Georgian and insisted on speaking to us in German periodically-like we would understand! In the morning I had a shower, which I thought would be hot. It wasn't. Showering in that cool mountain water certainly wakes you up! If these pictures don't make you long to come here, than you are a hard person to please. I will never forget the moment when I was standing here at the monastery- the air was still and warm. There was not a sound to be heard. I looked around and all I could see are these magnificent mountains, in this incredibly beautiful setting. Words can't describe it-pure magic! |
