Yerevan has a decidedly pink aspect to it! This is due to the fact many buildings use "tuf" stone which is quarried in Armenia and is pink in colour. Whilst we stayed in Yerevan it was very hot. Every day whilst I was there, had a temperature for the most part of the day from 40-45 degrees centrigrade.
It's a nice city. Clean and quite modern. Plenty to see and do here as well, and it is an affordable place.Lots of nice cafes.

Yerevan is high on our list of places to go - MrL is particularly keen. Have you read Joan London's "Gilgamesh"? Set in SW Australia and war-time Yerevan - fantastic book with a beautiful sense of place. cheers - leyle

When I was in Yerevan 2003 I didn't see much of Republic Square as the whole place was under reconstruction. It will be nice to see it next year!

If I see your pictures, I think I will stil recognize the Republic Square, or former Lenin Square during my visit in the 80s. Great information and links !
