| Lille Street running off the Grand Place |
Lille is is the fourth largest city in France and a great weekend destination for Europeans. This trip I did whilst living in London. It takes just 2 hours by Eurostar. Lille is the capital of the Flanders area of northern France, bordering Flemish Begium, so the two areas despite being in different countries feel pretty much the same. Sometimes it does feel more like Belgium than France. Everything is much cheaper than in Paris! |
| Place du Général de Gaulle-Lille-France |
| | Most daily life seems to focus the around the main square in Lille-The Grand Place. It is very picturesque. The Flemish architecture is most prevelant and therefore easy to admire, here. |

| | The most famous son of Lille is Charles de Gaulle. He grew up in Lille and later went on to lead the Free France Forces in the Second World War. |
