"Ubud" a Ubud Travel Page by Groverdean

Ubud is the colourful, cultural capital of Bali. It was my pick of destinations in Bali that I had the chance to experience. A great part of this was in the fact that our visit was timed to take in Full Moon Festivities. As a result that was always something happening, and moreso in the evenings around the town centre as it became a hive of activities for the locals celebrations.

Ubud is more the experience I was looking for in a trip to Bali. To see the richness that exists in Balinese culture. One of the main reasons it has always attracted the number of tourists it has to its lovely shores.
Part of that culture is the amazingly rich Balinese cuisine. I never realised why Balinese restaurants dont exist really anywhere other than Bali (you'll have to read my cooking tip to find out)! So yes I'd certainly recommend a cooking class, and you must defintely participate in a Balinese feast or else you will well and trully be missing out, on what is an essential aspect of Bali.

Ubud also evokes images of the more traditional Balinese lifestyle. Of fields or rice paddys, or terraces, as they tumble down hillsides. There are plenty of interesting and visually appealing places to visit in and around Ubud. Accommodation options alone, are fantastic value. If you dont fall in love with this place, than you are definitely a hard person to please.
