Trains: Like all Australian cities,...

    Category: Train
Getting TO/AROUND: Like all Australian cities, Sydney is a sprawling place, which takes up a lot of land mass... Bus, monorail and train services around Sydney are great, and very reliable. I would recommend if you were there with a family, or there for any more than a few days, to hire a car - that way you're not trying to do everything within the time limits set by public transport, and you can save a lot of time getting in between places. Our petrol prices have risen significantly in the last year, however we are still very cheap in comparison to the rest of the world. If you're going into the middle of Sydney, I would recommend you leave the car at a cheap parking place (the one right next to the Rocks is excellent), and spend the day on foot. That is the best way to see inner Sydney. I would also recommend a boat ride around Sydney Harbour, there are many boat tours leaving from the Rocks, to do tours on a half-hourly basis all year round - this is a great way to see all the beautiful parts of Sydney from a different perspective than the one you get driving. Travelling anywhere beyond inner Sydney, say for instance around the Blue Mountains, take a car.
