My first visit to Madrid was taking advantage FITUR (Tourism Fair Trade), one of the most important concentration of professionals in the world. Was great! It's huge! And the different countries Tourism Offices and enterprises are really an incredible experience to learn more things about this world. I will try to go every year and spend "intense days" (without sleep, Madrid nightlife is WWWWWWWOOOOOOOWWWWWWWW!!!) First of all, Madrid is a city with a great & old past. The first evidence? Around IX century Muhammad I built a fortress next to Manzanares River. The name of this was MA RIT (Almost sounds as today!) ;-D In the XIII century "Madrid's Council" participated in Navas de Tolosa and Toma de Sevilla battles. Was in this period when the "oso" (bear) and "madroño" (a tree) appears in Madrid's shield. The first represent the Council and the second the ecclesiastical community of Madrid. In the XIV century the Castilla's Kings started to spend some vacation periods there until in the year 1561, Felipe II was living in Madrid due to its location inside Spain. What happened??? Was born quarters like: Alcalá, Carrera de San Jerónimo, Atocha, Nueva Toledo, San Bernardo, Fuencarral and Hortaleza. More info? Tourism info Duque de Medinaceli, 2 34/913.697.930 902.100.007 |
