Winter 2000 in California This was the first winter vacation I had ever taken--and what a trip! California is great anytime, but even better when you're coming from a place with 14 inches of snow on the ground! We spent most of our time in Southern California where my aunt lives, but also took a road trip up to Carmel-by-theSea and San Francisco.
Pictured her is the view from a turnoff on the Pacific Coast Highway between Los Angeles and Carmel-by-the-Sea. |

| Pros: | "Gorgeous oceanscapes, great natural variety along the coast, great winter weather, Disneyland" | | Cons: | "Southern CA can be a bit too artificial and "plasticized" for this Midwestern girl :)" | | In A Nutshell: | "Unique, entertaining, and beautiful--pro's definitely outweigh the cons, especially if you don't live here!" |

RickinDutch Thu Jul 10, 2008 18:38 UTC Nice over view of California. I grew up there but after 30 years in Alaska it is hard to handle the crowds and artifice. Happy Birthday! | rmlopez74 Sat Apr 22, 2006 07:23 UTC I love listening to Drew play at DT Disney. I live about five minutes from there, so I try to see him at least once a week. | Jenniflower Sun Jun 5, 2005 20:39 UTC I have also had frozen banana dipped in chocolate! VERY yummy indeed... but oh so naughty :) I would love to visit California one day. | keida84 Fri Apr 15, 2005 05:04 UTC Hi Tara, I just had a frozen banana at Balboa Island. If you come back to So CA take a trip to San Juan Capistrano and check out the historical "Los Rios" section near the mission & behind the train depot! It's great! I enjoyed your pages, Kat |
