Luggage And Bags: I would recommend a very detailed map--I love the laminated Insight London map. Also get a Tube map at any station--they are free.
Clothing/Shoes/Weather Gear: Obviously--an umbrella. You just never know when you're going to need it. So even if it's sunny when you get up, bring it with you--things change fast!
Toiletries & Medical Supplies: Bring a washcloth if you feel it's a necessity! Most mid-level London hotels don't supply them automatically.
Photo Equipment: A mini tripod if you want to make better night shots of Parliament (a stunning sight!).
Miscellaneous: I brought a compass so that I could get my bearings when coming up out of a Tube station.
