My favourite city on earth... | In front of a certain train platform at Kings Cros |
I was in London for a total of six days during my fifteen-day trip to the UK in 2002, and most recently repeated the pleasure with another five days in May-June 2004.
I could expound forever on my reasons for loving London. I'm an Anglophile, music/literature buff, and city girl, so you can understand why London is tailor-made for a girl like me! Except for those real estate prices, that is...
To defer to Samuel Johnson's oft-repeated remark: "When a man is tired of London, he is tired of life; for there is in London all that life can afford." |
| My favourite sight on Earth! |
| | My top ten favourite memories of London 10. Coming up out of Russell Square Tube on the Piccadilly Line from Heathrow on my first visit, realizing I'd finally made it after years of dreaming of London.
9. Viewing Big Ben at night from Westminster Bridge.
8. Crossing Abbey Road in my bare feet.
7. Sitting in Sherlock's study at 221b Baker Street.
6. Following in the footsteps of Charles Dickens on a guided London Walk.
5. Having afternoon tea at Brown's Hotel.
4. Watching the Ceremony of the Keys at the Tower of London.
3. Seeing the original Jane Eyre manuscript at the British Library.
2. Going to see Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban at Leicester Square Odeon during opening week, with a crowd packed full of enthusiastic Londoners.
1. Just strolling down any London street and soaking up the history and atmosphere oozing out of the pavement. |
Following the Fab Four... If you're a Beatles fan, be sure to check out my Beatles' London Travelogue at the bottom of this page! London is a great place for fans of the 1960's British musical invasion. | | |

| Pros: | "The history, charm, architecture, culture, shopping, food, parks, people, museums, place names, Thames, Tube...just about everything!" | | Cons: | "The fact that I'm not there right now. :)" | | In A Nutshell: | ""I like the spirit of this great London which I see around me." --Charlotte Bronte (Villette)" |
