Restaurant Name: Angelina
I had a whole list of possible places to eat on my one day in Paris, and I am so glad we decided on Angelina. Besides looking like a doll house, with its marble, gilded ironwork, and mirrors, I had the best hot chocolate of my life here! Americans, do be aware that the servers here do not appear to speak fluent English. I ordered in broken French, and thankfully that was good enough for our waitress, who spoke to us mostly in French herself. Most of the menu does have English descriptions as well as French.
Favorite Dish: The Chocolat Africains, which is most closely related to hot chocolate, but ten times better...a thick, creamy, intense pitcher of chocolate served with a whole parfait glass of rich whipped cream. Amazing.

Sue08080 Sat Jun 3, 2006 07:22 UTC Paris and Philadelphia...two of my favorite cities! | sue_stone Sun Jan 1, 2006 22:14 UTC Hope you make it back to Paris again...for more than 12hours! They have just opened a Laduree in London so I may have to visit and try one of those macaroons : ) | pixxxie Wed Jul 27, 2005 12:41 UTC Don't worry about Beatchick's criticism. Macaroon is good *English*. You don't have to use the French word when you write in English. | BeatChick Sun Jul 17, 2005 00:10 UTC Hi, LondonLover, just wanted to point out that it is actually macaron & there is no coconuts in these confections. They are made of egg whites & almond paste & then flavored with whatever: roses, pistachios, etc. Excellent Ladurée tip, though! |
