We have been trying to return to Isla since 1999 when we rented a car and drove all over the Yucatan peninsula visiting Mayan sites. We spent the last day and a half snorkeling and enjoying a tiny foretaste of what this diminutive and very unique island has to offer. At the end of August '06 before Kathryn had to return to her 3rd grade classroom, we thought we would sqeeze in a quick week to our little hidden treasure which is only a 30 minute ferry ride from the much more popular Cancun. We found a small (and very affordable) condo online on the East side of the island which was only 4 blocks from downtown.
