Tourist Traps To See: Best view of Fremont Street
  • Tip Rating:
  • It's a must see while in vegas. Watching the show while wasted is particularly interesting.

At Least Do This: One of the best places to catch a Fremont Street Experience light show is from the second-floor balcony of Fitzgeralds Casino. Just take the escalator up to the second level. The small balcony can get crowded during the shows, so get there about 15 minutes early. Fitzgeralds is easy to find- it's the green one on Fremont Street near Main St. downtown.

  • Although not really a tourist trap, visiting the wedding chapels and pawn shops which are everywhere downtown and on the strip should be a requisite experience of any trip to Lost Wages. Hawk that walmart casio watch and blow it on a single hand at blackjack just for ***s an giggles. Sit in on an Elvis wedding while yer at it. They happen about every 20 mins. My preference is the Graceland Chapel (a good friend of mine actually got married there and it's lasted over a year now). Graceland is at 619 LV Blvd. South- near downtown.

  • One of the greatest engineering marvels of the 20th century is only about 30 mins. outside of Las Vegas and definitely worth a look. It's not as cheap as it used to be but they built a monumental parking garage and visitor center with really swank views to the dam. It's sort of too hot to visit in summer in my opinion but it's worth the trip, plus you get to go through the cute city of Boulder City on the way which was built to originally house the dam builders and their dam families.

At Least Do This: Take the tour which takes you actually inside the dam where you get to see the gigantic turbines and penstocks (water tubes). Take note of the swanky art deco statues and details which make the dam so beautiful. There is also a really cool view from the restrooms at the top if you stick your head out the tiny little window (it looks straight down the face of the dam).
Alternative: If the dam tour is really that terrible you can always kill yourself afterward. Dozens of people have said, 'adios cruel world' and jumped from the dam (over the non-water side of course, which is kind of gory considering you would bounce once and slide all the way down to the bottom where you finally splat).

The Gulch is full of saggy bodies BUT at least the girls (most) are friendly and have a laugh and don't fleece you. Sadly it's my favourite 'girly' bar in LV

Read your post re: "gold chain/beev skirt" but you never mention the name of the place. I guess I could drive to the address posted, but it would be nice to know the name.
