Tala Bay, the south beaches, is where we stayed. It's 14 km from Aqaba city and only 10 km from the Saudi border. Wow!
Tala Bay is an integrated residential and tourism resort with, today, 3 hotels and a large number of villas, condo's and townhouses. Tala Bay breathes luxury. There's also a private marina that can host over 65 boats and provide them with state of the art services.
From our sunbed on the beach we could see the Sinai mountains (Egypt) right in front of us ; when we looked at the right we saw the highrise buildings of Eilat (Israel) ; when we looked at the left we saw the mountains behind which is Saudi Arabia. Amazing.

Petra is considered the most famous and gorgeous site in Jordan, and it is located between Amman and Aqaba. Petra is the legacy of the Nabataeans who settled in southern Jordan more than 2000 years ago. It is only in 1812 that a Swiss archaeologist traveled through the Valley of Petra. He immediately recognized the temples and more than 1000 tombs that had been carved in the pink-colored sandstone of the rocks.
From the entrance of the site it goes downhill through the canyon by means of a - sometimes very narrow - 2 km long gorge with steeply rising sides, called the Siq. At the end of the Siq all of a sudden you see the magic of the Treasury in front of you. The "Treasury", or Pharao's tomb (Al-Khazneh in Arabic) is the most photographed and the most beautiful tomb in Petra.
Of course there is a lot more to see than just the Treasury, for instance the Theathre Necropolis, the Amfitheatre, the King's Tombs, the Cardo Maximus, the Qasr al-Bint Faraun (castle of the pharao's daughter), the temple of Al Deir, the Rainbow Tomb, etc.

Wadi Rum can be reached in about 40 min. by car from Aqaba along the Desert Highway. It was our most memorable excursion. The desert is fabulous. The scenery changes after each ride up or downhill a dune. The lowest point of the Rum is at 900 m above sea level and the massive sandstone crags rise sheer a further 550 m. It is really breathtaking and one feels very small standing there amids those colosses.
We saw the most beautiful sunset and when it was completely dark the black sky was filled with thousands of stars.

It looks like a nice place to relax.
