Unique Qualities: This was a great deal. Hotel is nice colonial style, has nice coutyard with sitting areas, large clean room.

If you want to stay at a nice hotel in Merida, I recommend this hotel. Room prices are still reasonable for a 5 star hotel, beautifully decorated in Clonial style. Very nice and large rooms. Close to the center plaza.

Unique Qualities: Everyone there is extremely warm and helpful. David and Gricell: two really nice young people at the front desk. They all speak English well.

Hotel San Clemente in Valladolid

Valladolid is a small town located about 2 hours from Merida, about 45 minutes from Chichen Itza by bus. It is a good place to stay if you are planning to visit Chichen itza but do not wish to spend high prices for the hotels around Cichen Itza--most of them are dedicated to well-off tourists.

Unique Qualities: Basic looking but very reasonable, pleasant, fairly large clean room . Hotel people were nice though they do not speak English well (I still had good time with my limited Spanish).
