This is a Japanese owned guesthouse. You take off your shoes at the entrance but you can use the pair of flip flops which are in the guest rooms. The web site is in Japanese but worth checking the picutres.
We had a corner room on the second floor. It was large, clean, and sunny. The room was with an AC, TV, mini fridge, ceiling fan, tiled floor, and simple hot shower in the bathroom.
The AC was weak but worked fine with the ceiling fan. It was not like staying at a hotel as it was described on their site but was comfortable. We felt pretty safe staying there since the security guard was at the gate all day long. The only draw back was that the owner kept his dogs by the side of the house, the court yard area, in small cages most of the time (due to the conflict with wild dogs in neighborhood--according to the staff), not particularly well taken care of to my eyes. Some area in the court yard smelled sometimes despite the daily cleaning by the staff.
It was US$18/night with breakfast and dinner. Many guesthouses in Siem Reap charge around $5/night so this was not the cheapest guesthouse but it was worth the price with all these amenities. Overall, I do recommend this place.
We hired the private driver and the guide through this guest house. The private tour prices were reasonable but were not presented well in advance. I wished they had a price list.
**many thanks to LeDragon and Bernithetraveler for their help before the trip.**
Unique Qualities: If you don't care much for hotels but like to have a bit more than cheap guest houses, this would be a good place for you. I bleieve there are many nice guest houses in Siem Reap so look around.
All rooms come with a private bathroom (hot shower), mini bar, TV and AC. The price includes breakfast, dinner, and 24 hour internet use in the lobby area. The staff gives you a frozen bottle of mineral water as you go out to the day tour in the morning (free).
Nat, one of the staff was especially helpful (see the picture). He made our stay happy and pleasant. He speaks Japanese well and English reasonably. According to him, he is going to be a Japanese speaking tour guide soon. I believe he will be a great guide; he is pleasant, honest, hard-working, and really funny!
