Getting TO/AROUND: From Rome Fiumicino (aka Leonardo Da Vinci International airport), take the train (aka Leonardo Express) to Roma Termini station. Price 11 euro one way. We saw little ticket machines - the ones that validate your ticket by punching a hole in it - so we did it just in case. It seems you have to do it - it's written on the back of the ticket - altho how you'd know to look there is beyond me. The ticket is valid for 90mins afterwards. The journey takes about 35-40mins.

'Mode': AROUND
Category: Subway/Metro
Getting TO/AROUND: Not my favourite form of transportation, so we avoided it. End of March and the tunnels were already stiffling hot. There is not enough space on the ramps for the number of commuters, it's very cramped, everyone is pushing and elbowing... not to mention the bio-weapons (b.o., etc.) The cars were also too small, but they had a computerised announcement system and the routes were clearly marked (of course, it helpsto know where you are going). Still not as bad as Barcelona or Paris. The ticket was something like a euro or euro and a half for a single journey. Stijn got a little accident while getting into the station - the slot machine got his ticket but the battons didn't turn and as a single journey ticket he couldn't do it again... so he ended up just jumping over the aisle. ;-)
