I am spending one semester (five months) on an exchange program here in Champaign at the University of Illinois. We arrove here in January. 22 Austrians looking forward to an exciting semester at the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign arriving at a damn cold place covered in snow. At least we came here with a limo from Chicago Ohare airport although nobody could really enjoy the trip after a 9 hours flight and only getting half of our luggage. Nevertheless we finally did arrive in Champaign our home for the next five months. Champaign is a rather small university town, but has to offer quite a lot for young people. There are a lot of bars to go to and especially in the summer there are a lot of things to do here. I was quite a little bit concerned that I would get bored after some months here, but I really enjoyed my whole stay here very much ... and FIGHTING ILLINI RULE!!! |
