A small village in France profonde

by Jeannette1 - last update: Jul 23, 2005

Cafe and butcher shop

My mother lives in this small village (3,500 people) in the center of France.
It's a typical small French village of about 5,000 people. It's does not get many tourists and is not listed in any guide books. Yet, it reflects the typical lifestyle of many French people in rural France.

You see people going to get their daily bread in the morning, mothers going to pick up their children at school for the long lunch break, men having an "aperitif" at the local cafe and young people hanging out at night on the square in front of the Church.

Pros:"safe, lovely small village atmosphere"
Cons:"a little boring for younger people"
In A Nutshell:"A typical small village in France"

Est-ce que ta maman te disait "Noël au balcon, Pâques aux tisons"? Ici il fait si froid, j'attends avec impatience le réchauffement global tant annoncé...

We visited La Chapelle and it's charming. The horse wasn't out and they were setting up a fete in front of the church so my photo has lots of trucks in it. The town has the CLEANEST public bathrooms I've ever seen. Kudos! Thanks for telling us about it.
