| A typical Art Deco monument |
Tulsa hit the bigtime during an oil boom in the 1920s, leaving the city with many Art Deco landmarks like the Union Depot train station, Boston Avenue Methodist Church and many ornate skyscrapers. Only Miami and New York have more Art Deco buildings in the USA. The most famous of the oil barons were the Phillips family, who founded the Phillips 66 oil company. Their homes, company headquarters and art collections here and in Bartlesville are some of Oklahoma’s top attractions. |
