"Little Sweden, USA" Lindsborg by jayhawk2000
Lindsborg Travel Guide: 39 reviews and 103 photos
A mix of Swedish charm and Kansas hospitality make Lindsborg about the friendliest tourist honeypot in the state. It's a town of art galleries, craftsmen, festivals, music and wholesome food.
The town's mascot and biggest export is the wooden dala horse ('dalahast'). In spring 2003 the town had a dala horse 'parade' downtown.
Lindsborg's downtown is lined with extravagant old buildings where you will find antiques markets, arts & crafts stores and restaurants.
Don't miss an excursion out of town to the hilltop stone 'fort' at Coronado Heights, the legendary viewpoint of that Spanish conquistador's exploratory expedition through here nearly 500 years ago.
I can also recommend the Maxwell Wildlife Refuge and McPherson State Fishing Lake for some superb widlife encounters and wonderful scenery.
And less than 10 miles straight west of Lindsborg on State Hwy 4 is Marquette, my 'birthday cake' town which has its own VT page!

I've always wondered just where the turning point was for Coronado, besides deciding that his guide was misleading him. Nice page...
Lindsborg is one of my favorite small towns in the country. You've done a nice job of capturing the spirit of the place! Thanks.
Love the dalahast! Little ethnic towns like this in the U.S. are fun to visit.
I think I ate at the Swedish Crown 25 years ago. I was at a High School debate tournament in Salina, and our coach took us to dinner at a great Swedish place in Lindsborg.
