Tuebingen is a university city south of Stuttgart sat alongside the river among wooded hills.
It's not a cathedral city, but does have a nice church. It has a castle, but it's neither a grand fortress or an outlandish estate. It's a university city but has no world-class museums or galleries, though you can rent a small boat to punt along the river, just like in Cambridge.
The main attraction is the old town between the church and castle above the river. Once you find the ornate town hall and with its fountain in front you know you've arrived at the city's heart.
There are also a few small museums and galleries but mainly you'd come here to enjoy the old world atmosphere. |
