| Plenty of friends to make on the street! |
| | Augsburg was founded 2000 years ago as a Roman city named in honour of the Emperor Augustus. You can see some ruins and carvings outside the Dom. |
Augsburg has been home to Martin Luther, Bertolt Brecht and a fabulously wealthy family named the Fuggers.
You will see the Fuggers' influence everywhere! | | |
| Three cheers for Augsburg! |
| | Augsburg is about a half hour by train from Munich and was the closest place we could find a decent hotel on the first night of Oktoberfest.
It has several great churches, a prosperous shopping district, many interesting old buildings and a lovely district of old almshouses although there weren't many restaurants to choose from for an evening meal. |
