BERN CAPITAL OF SWITZERLAND

by Hosell - last update: Mar 5, 2005

Bern's Old Town

The canton of Bern,is the second most populous and second largest canton of the country (1.990-pop.937.365).The city of Bern,is also the capital of the canton and it is the capital of Switzerland aswell. It has a population of 136.000 pop.The population of canton and city of Bern,is predominantly Protestant and also are german-speaking.

The city is largely medieval in its architecture,it has a beautiful 15th century Town Hall,a noted Munster (Cathedral) of same century, and numerous other historic and beautiful buildings on its Historic Old Town, that is designed by UNESCO as a World Heritage site..

Something happened to me during my short visit to Bern, that I will never forget my short time in the city.We arrived to the city of Bern about 10 o'clock in the morning and then we started a nice walked tour in the old town.I was happy seeing such a nice city and I was very busy making photos everywhere!.I didn't realize about that ,but in midle of a street was placed a huge wooden plank, because some people where making some works on that street and that plank was placed there to cover a huge hole.

Guess what happened to me then? well I was so busy making my pictures that I didn't see that wooked plank and I fell down very noisly!! unfortunatelly I was carrying my nice and new camera around my neck and with lens opened. What a disaster!!!! When I was standing up I realized that my camera was completly broken. So I lost all my pictures from the memory card and you can imagine how I was feeling!! (lucky that no one of my old bones were broken also!!!) :-)

Lucky I found a nice photo shop very close to the area of the city I was on that moment and one hour after,I had a new and cheaper photo camera!.I missed a part of the city walked tour and then I just got a few pictures taken in this beautiful ciy. After my little "accident" I am sure that I will always remember my visit to Bern!!!.

Bern looks like a nice small city. Too bad you lost your new camera and all those pictures. Lucky that you didn't break any of those "old" bones.
