JOAO PESSOA BEACH

I will start my page about Brazil,telling you a little bit about my trip there and some information about Paraíba State.I just returned from my holidays in Brazil few days ago.First of all I want to say THANK YOU to my dear friend Rangel, thanks a lot for your hospitality and to be the best "tour guide" in your own country!.I stayed almost all my time in Brazil staying at his house and really I felt like at home.

Paraíba is one of the states of Brazil and is located in the northeastern part of the country. The portuguese founded a town called Nossa Senhora das Neves (today Joao Pessoa,the capital of the state) in the mid-1.500's at the mouth of Paraíba do Norte river.Soon the area proved perfect for the sugar production,and Portuguese,French and Ducths,were constantly fighting for the control of the area.

Now the economy of the state it is based upon the making of shoes and other leather products,also is very important the raising of cattle for beef,and specially sugarcane and corn.

Paraíba has also some important universities: Universidade Federal de Paraíba (UFPB), Universidade Estadual de Paraíba (UEPB), and UNIPÊ, (Centro Universitario de Joao Pessoa).

Hope to visit a bit more of this beatiful and huge country in future trips,I just visited Paraíba area this time,unfortunatelly I just been a short time here,just 13 days.

Excellent introduction. What a great place for a home base to visit Brazil. The weather looks perfect and the scenery is beautiful, which your photos attest to. I'll return when you finish.
