Ingelheim is a small town of about 26,000 inhabitans, located at the Rhine river between Mainz and Bingen. |
| | Despite that fact that Ingelheim is home of Boehringer Ingelheim, which ranks among the world's leading pharmaceutical companies and is present in the America's, Africa, Asia, the Middle East, Australia and many European countries, the town has a rather rural character. One of my professors at Uni once even referred to it as the "sleepy little town with the asparagus fields" *lol* Along the Rhine River in Ingelheim Nord, as well as in Ingelheim West there are lots of fruit trees and ....... yes, asparagus fields, you guessed it! *lol* Between Ober-Ingelheim and Groß-Winternheim on the other hand the wine-growing areas start. Due to this fact Ingelheim calls itself the "Rotweinstadt". |
