Metz is located in the state of Lorraine; near the border to Germany.
It's a really nice city with many parks and historic buildings which were mostly built by the Germans for Lorraine belonged to Germany some decades ago (before World War I I think). Because of all those parks Metz already got several awards.

it is a very beautiful city ; french tourists never go there because they think it is always cold, raining or snowing

So France's oldest theatre is here. I never knew that. I have driven the length of the Moselle valley on the German side, but never made it as far as Metz.
