One of the most beautiful towns I've been to

In June 2003 we went on a uni field trip to Eichstaett, where we stayed for a weekend. I just loved this little town! Unfortunately I had some problems with my digital camera and thus the only pictures I have are the ones in the travelogue which were taken near Eichsteatt. Anyway, pictures can't do justice to the real beauty of this town! ;-) So I suggest to pay Eichsteatt a visit when in Bavaria to see with your own eyes!

The following is a city walk I had to work out for this field trip; unfortunately it is in German but maybe, when i get the time, I might translate it into English one day,....

1. Allgemeines

Die ca. 12.800 Einwohner zýhlende Barock, Bischofs- und Universitýtsstadt Eichstýtt liegt im sýdlichen Teil des Frýnkischen Jura (Kalkstein), inmitten des Naturparks Altmýhltal (Sýdliche Frankenalb), an der Altmýhl; zwischen Nýrnberg und Mýnchen (Tourismusverband Naturpark Altmýhltal). Sie liegt in 48ý 52ý nýrdlicher Breite, 11ý 11ý ýstlicher Lýnge sowie 388 bis 545 m ýber dem Meeresspiegel. Die Flýche des Stadtgebiets betrýgt 47,75 kmý. Eichstýttýs Wirtschaft beruht u.a. auf dem Dienstleistungsgewerbe, Groý- und Einzelhandel, Tourismus, Handwerk,... etc. (Stadt Eichstýtt).

Pros:beautiful architecture!!!
Cons:not much going on in the evenings

Altmuehltal is beautiful. I did some biking and canoeying therre in summer. About Eichstaett, I agree, a studen'ts town without a student's athmosphere.
